Michelle Quinones-Defendini, MD is a board-certified specialist in Obstetrics and Gynecology.
Dr. Quinones fell in love with medicine at an early age and completed her dream to become a doctor in medicine in Ponce School of Medicine. During her clinical years, she discovered a passion for Obstetrics and Gynecology which led her to complete this specialty at Winthrop University Hospital/ NYU. She received several honors during her undergraduate and clinical years, including serving as Chief Resident at Winthrop University Hospital/ NYU. Since then, Dr. Quinones has been practicing in Jacksonville, FL at Women’s Care. As an added benefit to the care she can provide to her patients, she is fluent in both English and Spanish. Pregnancy can be an exciting, yet scary journey. Being able to explain the different stages of this journey and what to expect is necessary in order to enjoy this chapter of life. As a mother of three children and being a high-risk patient herself, Dr. Quinones can identify with her pregnant patients in a way that will provide them with reassurance when needed and medical advice when indicated.
She cares for low-risk and high-risk patients. Over the years, Dr. Quinones has developed various special interests in the evaluation and treatment of vaginal problems (like infections and lesions), vaginal/ pelvic pain, abnormal vaginal/ uterine bleeding, uterine fibroids, endometriosis, labiaplasty, and gynecologic ultrasound, amongst other topics. When a patient has a problem that requires surgical intervention, it is her top priority to help the patient return to her daily life as quickly as possible. She can achieve this through minimally invasive surgical procedures including but not limited to vaginal procedures, hysteroscopy, and laparoscopy. She also performs vaginal hysterectomies and robotic-assisted laparoscopic surgeries, including but not limited to the removal of uterus and/or cervix, endometriosis, fibroids, ovarian or tubal cysts, amongst other abnormalities. Dr. Quinones has a true passion for educating future medical professionals. She enjoys educating physician assistants, nursing and medical students, as well as residents, on topics related to obstetrics and gynecology. In her leisure time, Dr. Quinones enjoys spending time with her family, exercising, beaching, traveling, and partaking in new adventures.
