She then obtained her medical degree from the University of Tennessee Health Science Center (UTHSC) in Memphis. She completed her residency in internal medicine at James H. Quillen College of Medicine in Johnson City.
While most of her training was hospital-based, Karen Hanks, MD, practiced in Middle Tennessee in a traditional medical practice setting that included clinic and hospital work.
