The Truth About BHRT… It’s Amazing What Those Pellets Do

bhrt pelletsHave you heard about bio identical hormone replacement with pellet therapy? Maybe you’ve heard things, but you’re not sure what to believe. Here are the basics about BHRT…
Bio identical hormone replacement is an effective treatment for many symptoms associated with menopause and andropause (male menopause).

When hormone levels in our blood drop, many unpleasant side effects can occur, such as hot flashes, night sweats, loss of libido, depression, anxiety, loss of muscle mass and more. It can also affect the health of our cardiovascular system, bones, and skin. Bringing hormone levels up via BHRT can make you feel better and stay healthier as you age.

Just ask SottoPelle® patients, and they will tell you…Pellet therapy is the best delivery method for hormone replacement.

Some doctors prescribe synthetic hormones via pills, creams or patches. Not only are these hormones biologically different from the ones our body naturally produces, their delivery method can cause hormone levels to fluctuate greatly, creating the yo-yo effect, commonly referred to as the “hormone roller coaster”. With bio identical HRT using pellet therapy, the hormones that are used are biologically identical to the ones the human body produces, so they are metabolized in the same fashion. The body absorbs hormone pellets slowly over a period of months, delivering a consistent, physiologic dose of hormone. No yo-yos or roller coasters to be found.

Bioidentical hormone replacement therapy is safe.

For many women who experience moderate to severe symptoms of menopause, doctors and healthcare professionals agree that hormone replacement therapy using bio identical hormones is a safe and effective way to address many of these symptoms (including hot flashes, trouble sleeping, irritability, low libido, lack of energy and brain fog…just to name a few).

Considering HRT…You’ve come to the right place!

We all want to live our best lives possible, and maintaining our overall health as we age often depends on many different factors including our lifestyle, activity level and genetics. What many don’t know is that declining hormone levels can also have an impact on overall health, thus having an understanding of what your levels are is paramount. At SottoPelle®, we recognize an important fact that others often miss— one size truly does not fit all. Our patients have specific lab work performed allowing our providers to identify hormone imbalances that are present. Based on these lab results, our providers are then able to prescribe individualized dosing to address the specific needs of each patient.

Menopause and Andropause how imbalance hormones affect you

Mid-life crisis as well as other noted psychological and emotional variations will also be noticed among both sexes as well. Just as in puberty when your hormones were on a rollercoaster, you may feel like you have returned to that crazy ride during menopause and andropause. Both medical phases of life have certain treatments that are available, effective, and that are medically recognized to improve quality of life. One of the most common treatment paths for both conditions is bioidentical hormone replacement therapy (BHRT). For both men and women this method will help to bring the hormone levels back to the proper levels. Managing the source of the problem delivers great relief in experienced symptoms. It is important that a patient is carefully monitored by a doctor while they are undergoing BHRT treatment. The doctor should be experienced, trained, and empathize with what the patient is going through. Make sure your doctor is not just treating symptoms, but the hormonal imbalance that both sexes have in middle age.

Educate yourself, men and women can learn a lot if they research the different things that can be expected when experiencing these conditions. If you opt for BHRT make sure you receive quality care and pellets from a verified SottoPelle physician. Not all BHRT pellet treatment is created equally. But, when it comes to aging both men and women have equal issues and can be improved with the appropriate treatment and healthy lifestyle.

SottoPelle® Supports Parkinson’s Patients

April is Parkinson’s Awareness Month. Parkinson’s Disease (PD) is estimated to afflict seven to ten million people worldwide and approximately one million in the U.S. This chronic and progressive movement disorder occurs when part of the brain deteriorates due to dopamine deficiency. Dopamine impacts movement, emotional response and the ability to feel pleasure. The severity of the disease differs from person to person. So far, there is no cure, but researchers are hopeful.
Research evidence is showing that exercise may have an important effect on the progression of Parkinson’s. A study published in the Cleveland Clinic Journal of Medicine in 2007 suggests that exercise may slow the progression of the disease and possibly even prevent it. Regular exercise may also reduce anxiety, increase confidence, offer more social interaction and provide a distraction from worries. It makes sense since exercise increases blood calcium levels which is known to increase dopamine production in the brain.

SottoPelle® has been working with PD patients for some time now. Many early-onset patients have seen benefits from using our bioidentical hormone pellet therapy. We have found that testosterone pellets decrease inflammation in the brain enabling men and women with Parkinson’s Disease to exercise. Estradiol pellets help restore dopamine production. This results in increased functionality and a slowed progression of their disease. Patients have also reported experiencing more mobility, diminished depression, and even a reduction in medications. SottoPelle® BHRT has additionally helped motivate them to exercise more, which in itself increases the vitality and energy needed to keep active. Improved quality of life seems to also be a common denominator among our PD patients.

For many years now, SottoPelle® has supported the mission to educate people on Parkinson’s and find a cure. Dr. Gino Tutera, our founder and director, presented an educational talk in 2015 to the Banner Neuro Center in Gilbert, AZ, to share his observations with the medical community. We have also participated in the annual Muhammad Ali Celebrity Fight Night for the past two years. This star-studded gala is known as one of the premiere charity events in the nation. For more than 20 years, celebrities have come together at this event to raise money for a variety of worthy causes, including the Muhammad Ali Parkinson Center at Barrow Neurological Institute in Phoenix. This year’s event is being held on April 9th at the JW Marriott Desert Ridge Resort & Spa in Phoenix, AZ, and we’ll be there supporting the cause. (www.celebrityfightnight.org)

BHRT for Parkinson’s Disease and Traumatic Brain Injury

BHRT or Bio-identical Hormone Replacement Therapy helps restore hormones such as testosterone, estrogen, and progesterone to their required levels. The hormones are taken from plant sources to produce molecules which are identical to the hormones our body naturally makes. BHRT is a safe and a reliable method and patients who undergo the treatment have reported feeling younger, more energetic and having decreased symptoms of menopause and andropause (male menopause) symptoms. The therapy is customized to an individuals requirements and is highly effective in both men and women. There are many benefits of BHRT which include:

  • Improved immune system
  • Increased sex drive
  • Balanced weight
  • Improved skin condition
  • Lower depression
  • A new study also suggests that it helps in Parkinson disease and traumatic brain injury

BHRT for Disease and Injury

Parkinsons disease and BHRT:Parkinsons disease (PD) causes the failure and death of critical nerve cells in the brain that are called neurons. PD usually strikes the neurons in the brain area called the substantia nigra that produces dopamine. Dopamine is responsible for communicating with the part of the brain that controls movement and coordination in a human body. As PD advances, dopamine production decreases which leaves a person unable to control his movements like a normal human being. This also inhibits his ability to exercise or maintain his fitness. However, with BHRT, PD patients have reported improvement in the following areas:

  • Reduced progression of PD symptoms
  • Reduced need for medicines
  • An improvement in fitness
  • An improvement in coordination
  • Better mobility
  • Reduction in tremors

These improvements are possible with BHRT as BHRT is able to increase the production of dopamine and decrease inflammation in the female brain and testosterone in the main brain. BHRT keeps hormones in balance and revives quality of life of PD patients. Balance of hormones means a steady flow of hormones in the blood stream that helps keep PD negative symptoms in check. Also, BHRT is customized as per the needs of the individual patient. This customization to the precise needs of the patients body is the key to the success of pellet therapy. SottoPelle’s patent pending dosing method BioCalc allows for the treating physician to dose the pellet therapy to exactly what that patients body requires to regain balance.

Traumatic brain injury and BHRT:Research suggests that traumatic brain injury affects around 1.7 million Americans per year and it can cause cognitive, emotional as well as physical deficits. Most therapies do not provide significant improvements or recovery and the chronic symptoms continue to be a part of life of the patients forever. It has been found that brain trauma causes deficiencies in some types of hormones. When this deficiency in hormones is restored, a significant improvement is seen in patients that suffer from traumatic brain injury.BHRT are plant-based hormones that match the exact molecular structure, as well as functionality of the human hormones. Hence, BHRT bind and communicate properly to the human body receptors and hence, extend vital support to organs, tissues and cells in the human body. If prescribed properly, BHRT can benefit traumatic brain injury as well as menopause, weight gain, and even osteoporosis. Again, BHRT are customized personally and have virtually no side effects. Exact dosage needs of a patient are uncovered by a series of blood tests.BHRT needs to be researched upon even more to aid people in their illnesses and improved further to provide an even better outcome for patients suffering from PD, traumatic brain injury, etc. If you need more information about this topic or SottoPelle Therapy, please contact us today!!
